Spring 2024 Intern review

Written by 787 Social Spring Intern, Amelia McConnico

As my time as the 787 Spring 2024 intern is coming to an end, I have come to reflect on all of the information and skills I have gained from my internship experience! For me, being an intern is all about learning and growing your own personal skill set while also helping your team's success! Stepping into this role, I anticipated learning new skills and gaining professional insights, but what I didn't expect was the personal growth that came with it.

One of the most significant skills I acquired during my internship was effective communication. From writing emails to collaborating with the team on projects, I learned the importance of clear communication in conveying ideas and building relationships. Whether it was presenting my ideas for a campaign brief or seeking feedback on video edits, I discovered that being able to articulate thoughts confidently is essential.

Another skill that I gained throughout my internship was time management. Balancing multiple tasks and deadlines taught me to prioritize and organize my workload efficiently. By setting realistic goals and breaking tasks into manageable chunks, I was able to stay focused and productive. I also learned to ask for help when you need it! The team was more than happy to help me when I was feeling overwhelmed!

To future interns, here is some advice on how to make the most out of an internship:

1. Embrace Every Opportunity to Learn:

Approach each task and project with an open mind and a willingness to learn. Every challenge presents an opportunity for growth, so don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and tackle new responsibilities.

2. Build Meaningful Connections:

Networking is such a valuable aspect of any internship experience and taking the time to connect with industry professionals can open doors to future opportunities and valuable insights. Don't hesitate to ask for advice or feedback because that is how you get better and grow your skills!

With 787 Social being a social media and marketing agency I was super excited to learn about the marketing side of things. Some of the most important things I learned about marketing in social media are knowing your audience, engagement, visual storytelling, and consistency and authenticity are key. It was interesting to see what posts got the most engagement, and look at the analytics behind that!

As I reflect on my internship journey, I am so grateful to Cristina and her team for all the lessons learned, the friendships formed, and the memories made!
